Hydrogenated Nitrile (HNBR) results from the hydrogenation of Nitrile rubber (NBR), and is also know as highly saturated Nitrile (HSN). HNBR’s high temperature limit extends to 150°C with short excursions to a higher temperatures possible. HNBR compounds have superior mechanical properties: low compression set, and excellent tensile strength and abrasion resistance. These properties are maintained at elevated temperatures which makes them ideal for applications where seal extrusion and wear could be a problem. Also, compared to normal Nitrile it offers resistance to ozone, sunlight and weathering. The normal service temperature for HNBR is -30°C to 150°C.

Hydrogentated Nitrile (HNBR) O-rings are becoming more commonly stocked, however the sizes are somewhat limited and are usually inch based O-ring sizes (BS1806/AS568A). We offer extruded profile, washer and gasket products in HNBR, however these would be considered a special order.
